Description

Biochemistry Personal Trainer LITE is a free app with 165 multiple choice questions that will test your understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology, and their applications. Covering key topic areas, most questions come with explanations of the answers. The app was designed for first- through third-year university or college students preparing for biochemistry exams. Furthermore, it covers important aspects of biochemistry and molecular biology found on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Questions can be displayed in a defined order, or randomly. The app keeps track of your success in answering the questions.

Questions are divided into the following topics:

* Molecular Basis of Life

* Proteins

* Lipids and Biological Membranes

* Carbohydrates and Energy Metabolism

* Nucleic Acids

* Gene Expression

* DNA Biotechnology

* Molecular Basis of Disease

The Biochemistry Personal Trainer was created by Biochemistry professors Dr. Chris Brandl and Dr. Derek McLachlin. Combined, these instructors have more than 20 years of experience teaching second-year Biochemistry to more than a thousand students annually at Western University (London, Canada). Dr. Brandl received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and did post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. McLachlin received his PhD in Biochemistry from Western University and did post-doctoral training at the Rockefeller University in New York City.

Biochemistry Personal Trainer Pro will be available in Fall 2012. BchPTPro contains hundreds of additional questions (~1000 in total), and two new topic categories (Photosynthesis and Nitrogen Metabolism). It is designed to fully test your knowledge and serve as a study guide. Offering more than simple review, BchPTPro’s questions introduce and develop central concepts in biochemistry, providing the experience of reading an interactive textbook.
